Egg Drop Lab Report
My objective is to make have the egg in a pouch like object in the middle of a box so that when it falls, it only bounces and not breaks. I would have something covering the top also so that the ground has no impact with the egg. At first I was going to put a container wrapped up in straws with the same objective, for the straws to have all the impact of the ground, instead of the egg or the container that the egg is in. I glued the container to two pieces of straws that were attached to a box structure made of straws and rubber bands.
The first time I did a test drop it worked but the second time when I dropped it from a higher place it did not work. This is not the actual design but it is something similar to it. This one did not work out because somehow the egg was still hitting the ground despite all the straws that was covering it. So I switched my design.
The final design that I used included a shoe box, socks, and rubber bands. I made some holes at certain points and stuck the socks in them. My objective was to put the egg in a pouch like thing so that it could hang in the middle of the box so that it would not hit the ground when it hits the ground. I made holes on the side of the boxes and put rubber bands in them so the top of the box could cover the the egg.
This was the final design. It weighed 66 grams but it did work. When we threw the box up in the air the egg did not break when the box hit the ground. It was heavy but the egg did not break.
